Quick and Easy Herb Garden |
I have wanted to try making my own
upcycled furniture for a while, but our first attempt didn't go too well so instead, I made a little wall herb garden from our pallets and I LOVE IT!!!
We dismantled one of the pallets. This is not an easy task, due to what the pallets are actually made for.... we ended up getting a saw out to it!
|
Looks so innocent - but those planks don't come apart without a fight! |
|
Eventually |
We used the planks from one pallet to act as a base for each section of the second pallet.
|
Adding the bases to the 'underneath' |
The pallet was then flipped over and the liner was added to the inside of each section to enable the soil to go in.
|
Already looking good |
Once this was complete, along came the fun part - adding the shells. We used Evo-Stik waterproof wood adhesive and it worked fantastic! Only a couple of shells have fallen off and that is more to do with the birds having a peck at them than the glue itself.
|
My litter helper - who picked most of the shells from the beach himself. |
|
He soon got bored! |
|
Left to dry overnight - the glue dries clear |
Once finished we placed the pallet up on our garage wall and I filled it with herbs and border shrubs to encourage the bees.
|
I so love this! |
This is a lovely, quick and easy project to do. You don't need to use shells if you don't have any, pebbles will work just as well so long as they are not too big or heavy.
I might have to make another one!
That looks fantastic, such a great idea! x
