This week we received some great little goodies from Bostik in preparation for valentine's day. Now, we all know us girls are easy to buy for - flowers, chocolates, bags, shoes, diamonds....... (ok, got a bit carried away), but is it just me or are men harder to buy for?
What I decided to do with my booty was create something from Max for daddy.
In my 'purchased at the car boot and yet to find a use for' pile I found a piece of wall art / 3D picture frame that had a flower inside. Perfect for the foam pads!!
I chose one of my favourite pictures from when my boys went down the beach collecting shells. It was a dry but cold day and just made you feel lucky to live so close to the seaside. I printed off 1 black and white copy and then 3 colour copies for the layered effect.
I removed the flower (and is now living in my 'find something to do with' pile) and using my glue stick down the black and white copy to the backboard of the frame. That was the easy part!
I then chose which sections to make stand out and cut around each layer of the photos. I ended up with spare printouts so the grandparents will be pleased.
I don't know what I was expecting but placing these little tiny squares around my images took ages - like 10 minutes - to me that's ages but hey, I think it's worth it. I was never any good at Operation as a kid and still don't have a steady hand so my little squares are a little off - not that that matters to the finished product.
It's quite hard to photograph a layered image without it looking flat! But I think I managed to capture it above. Once this was completed I remembered that we still had a bucket of shells from our last visit so I included these along the bottom of the picture frame to make it that little bit more special.
Once our picture frame was complete I set about getting the card ready for Max. Keeping with the layered theme I cut out his wording for him and also pencilled it on the card as he's rather good at jigsaw puzzles so this would help him in where the letters should go.
Armed with various images to decorate the card with we placed the foam pads on the back of the pieces and I left Max to his own devices as to what went where.
I must admit, this is a lovely way to decorate cards and paper without the mess of paint.
Don't get me wrong we do love to paint but some days it's nice to know that if he runs out the room in the middle of decorating - I don't have to follow the colourful footprints because he's painted his feet!
Love these, the picture looks fab. You have such a creative eye!
