It sounds pretty amazing, doesn't it? I'm looking forward to buying this book in its final form as I think we can benefit greatly from it, especially now that I have been 'trained' to read the book correctly!
The opening pages of this book have special instructions for the reader such as bold text to emphasize words and sentences, Italics to read slowly and calmly and various actions such as Yawning, etc. Needless to say for the first few reads I had totally forgotten all my 'training' and got engrossed in reading the story.
This is a lovely story with beautiful illustrations and we read this book last after the monsters, dinosaurs and the such, but we are struggling very slightly and it may be because I'm not reading the book right, it may be because there are fewer illustrations for Max to talk about in the book or it may be because it's not a style of book that Max is used to.
The style of writing does remind me of my slimpod that I listen to at night, with the emphasis on certain words and repetition of 'sleepy' words, and I do believe with a bit more practice (from me) we could very well pull this off.
Currently £3.99 in paperback from Amazon, it's worth a try if you have little ones who have trouble falling asleep - but I would recommend giving the book a read yourself a few times to get used to what is required. Please do come back and let me know if you have had success with it.
