I often find myself unsure of what to watch, if it's not Marvel/DC, Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks related I get a bit lost, as this means the film buff in me has come out to play and not the geeky crafter or mummy.....
So I've decided this year I'm going to watch all (!) the films that have been nominated for the 2016 Oscars... OK, maybe not all but I will make a conscious effort to watch all that have been nominated for Best Picture and maybe a few Best Actor / Actress ones too.
The list I'm going to watch this year? Let's see:
Best Picture The Big Short Bridge of Spies Brooklyn * Mad Max: Fury Road The Martian * The Revenant * Room * Spotlight | Best actor & actress Bryan Cranston - Trumbo Michael Fassbender - Steve Jobs Eddie Redmayne - The Danish Girl Cate Blanchett - Carol Jennifer Lawrence - Joy Charlotte Rampling - 45 Years |
(* Those marked with an Astrix have doubled up in the best actor/actress section too, but for my purposes I didn't need to list them twice, but if you want to know the full listings of who has been nominated for Best Actor / Actress, DiCaprio has been nominated for best actor in The Revenant, Damon for his role in The Martian. Saoirse Ronan has been nominated best actress for Brooklyn and Brie Larson for her role in Room).
So, after listing the nominations above I'm now thinking that 14 films within the year may be a bit much, but I'm going to aim for one a month, so let's bring on The Revenant. I do hope DiCaprio wins his Oscar this year, so many near misses - is this the year he wins it?
I reckon I can do it, after all, I've seen Mad Max so if nothing else I can say I've seen one of the nominations.
Do you have any on the list you really want to see or have seen? I'd love to hear your views on them.
I loved The Martian and think you should start with that one!
