Our first project when we moved into our new garden - keeping the plants out of the dog's reach |
With spring just around the corner, I'm looking forward to getting in the garden this weekend and giving it a good clean up and start planning for this year's garden ideas. We don't have a big garden, and with a 4-year-old and a dog I need to plan my garden so we all get to enjoy it equally, and with the long summer months coming, maybe the adults will get to enjoy it that much longer.....
But before we can join Leo in a glass of Processo we have tasks at hand! So following on from our Bug Hotel we created at the end of last year, this month in the 'kiddy section of the garden' we will be making a mini pond, thanks to the RSPB and their give nature a chance booklet. So watch this blog and twitter for future development updates and the creation of caterpillar stones and ladybird golfballs!
We also have a rather dated decking area which I hope to renovate/bring back to life, so I have enlisted the help of the internet for some inspiration and I've seen some fantastic garden ideas which I've pinned to my board on Pinterest to help me turn this into a reality!
It's this area that I really want to focus on this year. I want to keep it more for the adults and somewhere to come out in the evening and chill once the little one is in bed. Especially as his room overlooks the back garden and with monitors I know he'll be safe whilst we are unwinding just below him.
I like the idea of a corner bench unit, similar to one I've pinned thanks to Homify, and as it's a unique space I'm thinking we can either make the bench (Royal We) from pallets or from wood sourced from our local DIY store. I like the idea of raised beds behind the seating area, this stops the dog from digging up any freshly laid plants, as she's not one for jumping these days.
With our geeky interior, I can picture some rather unique oversized cushions to complete the look this summer and then, then we can relax and party like we've just won an Oscar.......
So those are my ideas this year, bit extravagant maybe but definitely do-able! Do you have any garden plans coming up?
I can't wait to see what you come up with! We're still dealing with snow here, so not even thinking about the garden! LOL
ReplyDeleteApparently we're having snow this weekend, but someone forgot to tell the daffodils. We're going to need a few more pallets I think.
Deletereally great ideas. We need to tackle our garden at some stage! After seeing your pallet planter before - we did make one of our own and I love it. x
ReplyDeleteOh wow I love that you have a pallet planter too. Mine needs updating, the birds picked the shells off!! Oh and btw, you're the reason why we have a black and white polka dot tablecloth :-)
